Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) launches its free SSM registration or Skim Pendaftaran Perniagaan Prihatin (SPPP) for students, youth under B40, and single mothers to register their businesses for free in order to earn extra income during the pandemic. This announcement was made by the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, YB Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Currently, to register a business (not a company) in Malaysia, you are required to pay:
- Sole proprietorship (using personal name as stated in the identity card) – RM30 per year;
OR - Sole proprietorship or partnership using a trade name – RM60 per year;
AND - Business information print-out – RM10.
Who Can Apply for SPPP Free SSM Registration
There are 3 categories that are eligible to apply for the free registration:
- Youth under B40 group:
- Aged 18 to 30 years old;
- Does not exceed the maximum age according to Malaysian Youth Policy;
- Is the recipient of Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) under the B40 group (Checking can be done at //bpn.hasil.gov.my);
- Does not have a record of active business in SSM.
- Single Mother under B40 group:
- Aged 18 and above;
- According to the conditions as defined as a single mother by the Ministry of Women, Family & Community Development (KPWKM);
- Is the recipient of Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) under the B40 group (Checking can be done at //bpn.hasil.gov.my/);
- Does not have a record of active business in SSM.
- Students:
- Aged 18 and above;
- Full-time students from any public or private Institution of Higher Learning (IPTA / IPTS) / Polytechnic / College within Malaysia;
- Does not have a record of active business in SSM.
How to Apply?
The registration has been open since 22 December 2020.
To apply, go to ezbiz.ssm.com.my. After that, create a new account. You must verify your new account before registering for your new business. Refer to here for verifying your account: link
Upon submitting your new business, you should see the Skim Pendaftaran Perniagaan Prihatin (SPPP) which can be selected under the Incentive column.
