Google Workspace Sept 2021 Updates | All You Need to Know

Google has posted several Google Workspace updates on their Google Workspace Update blog.
In this post, we are going to summarize a few changes that you will need to know.

1. Changes in Google Calendar

There will be a few changes to the Google Calendar. Now users could select whether are they working from Home or Office to better schedule users events and activities.
Those who can view your availability will know where you work and if you are not comfortable letting people know about the location, you can turn it off in Calendar Settings.

These changes only applicable to: Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, and Nonprofits, as well as G Suite Business users.

Another change is Time Insight. Time Insight helps users to understand more about how users spend their time in meetings and shows people who meet with you the most.
Time Insight is trying to achieve something like Microsoft MyAnalytics or Outlook Insight, which both Microsoft and Google are working on to make the users be more productive at work with all the Insight analytics of users’ time. Worry not, all the details of Time Insight in Google Calendar will not be visible to users’ managers or others unless the calendar is shared with people with manage sharing access” permission, then that user will have access to the Time Insight for that calendar.

These changes are only applicable to: Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, and Nonprofits users.

2. Changes in Google Sites

Now, the version history control in Google Sites has been released! Now users can restore the Google Sites to the previous version to discard the changes.
Simply click on the 3 dots next to the setting icon, and click on Version History. Select the version that you wish to restore and click on restore. You will receive a confirmation on whether to Restore the Page.

These changes apply to: All Google Workspace, GSuite, and @Gmail users.

Not to forget, now you can make images to be put inside the collapsible text box which previously you can’t!
Seems like Google does not announce these changes in public posts.

3. Changes in Microsoft Office Files

Now users can preview, download or copy the embedded Microsoft Office file directly in Google Drive/Docs. This helps users to have a better user experience while working with Microsoft Office Files in Google Drive/Docs and saving users time!

These changes apply to: All Google Workspace, GSuite, and @Gmail users.
